Growing up in a big family in outport Newfoundland during the 60s formed lasting memories in my mind that are reflected in my photography today. This ancient, rugged , windswept, carved out landscape is like a piece of living art to me.
Grown up on the ocean and spending my childhood on Northern Bay Sands never left my mind. Buying my new boat and being with the whales, the puffins and the serenity of the natural world gives me great inspiration and peace
In 2020 I was dignosed and operated on finding three types of thyroid cancer in me. I lost my voice for a year and had to have 38 radiation treatments. The cancer was discovered again in 2023 and I had more surgery and treatments Through it all my photograph kept me sane.
I left Northern Bay at 16 to study in St. John's. I eventually became a teache. Teaching in Nl, Ontario and the last 25 years in British Columbia teaching math, business and technology courses. After retiring I returned to my beloved Newfoundland where I now feel at peace.
Majestic Beauty
Newfoundland and Labrador is one of the most spectacular whale watching places on Earth. The world's largest population of humpback whales returns each year between May and September, and you can see them feed, frolic, and even breach near our shores.
